You don’t need to be an expert, though you might want to spend a couple of minutes thinking through what you’re going to say. The key point is that you’re ringing as a concerned constituent, not as an expert on health care (your MP probably isn’t either!).

• You’ve heard that David Cameron and Nick Clegg are finalising changes to their plans for our NHS right now and would like your MP to raise your concerns with them. David Cameron and Nick Clegg must drop plans to impose competition across the NHS. The priority should be making sure health professionals work together to give patients the best possible treatment.
•  The NHS regulator, “Monitor”, should promote collaboration not competition There needs to be a 100% guarantee that the NHS can’t get caught up in EU competition law which would open the floodgates to private companies
• The government’s “legal duty to provide a comprehensive health service” must not be scrapped. This is a founding principle of the NHS which guarantees we all can access decent healthcare wherever we live. If it is scrapped it will pave the way for more problems with postcode lotteries.
